The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children is the liturgical and formational process of Christian initiation. The RCIA was designed specifically for the initiation of unbaptized persons, yet the rite also supports preparation of baptized uncatechized Catholic adults for Confirmation and the Eucharist, and for other baptized Christians seeking full communion with the Catholic Church. This ministry recognizes that we are a baptizing and evangelizing community of faith. Knowing that we are brought into life in Christ not only individually but also as a community, we pray for, guide, teach, support, and sometimes gently challenge others on their journey towards new life in Jesus Christ. It is through Sunday dismissals and special rites that occur during the journey these people are taking towards the celebration of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, that we become the Body of Christ.
